We are now calling upon you for help in our latest project. A container will be going from Montreal to Malawi this coming February. Several local groups like the Theresa Foundation are partnering together and sending supplies to their various groups based in Malawi. Therefore, we are looking to send approximately 10 boxes (or more) filled with items such as these:
- used sweaters for the grannies on cold nights (especially cardigans with buttons)
- other warm clothing for the grannies
- small battery-powered radios and a supply of batteries
- medicine and medical supplies
- old eye glasse
- books
- toys
- school supplies (workbooks, paper, pens etc.)
- flashlights and batteries
- old running shoes (for kids and adults)
- bicycles (with spare parts if possible)
However, the following items are not suited for this project:
- please no electrical appliances (since Malawi has a different current
- please avoid generic used clothing
We would appreciate donations of any of these items. Or course, smaller items are better since space is somewhat limited. If you are interested in helping us with this project, please let us know as we will begin preparations as soon as possible. At the moment, we are currently working out where the boxes will be stored before they are loaded into the container; therefore there will more information to follow in the coming weeks. For now, please collect and hang onto your items if possible.
Moreover, if you don’t have any items around the house that you can donate, each box costs approximately $30 to send over, therefore monetary donations are very much appreciated as well!
