Do you have sweaters you don’t wear?
Glasses you don’t need?
Books? Toys?
We want em!
This January, the Theresa Foundation will be joining other Montreal organizations in filling a container destined for Malawi. We will be sending much needed supplies and warm clothing to the grandmothers there who are raising their AIDS-orphaned grandchildren. This holiday season, you can directly help someone in need.
We are looking for:
➢ used sweaters for the grannies on cold nights (especially cardigans with buttons)
➢ other good-quality warm clothing for the grannies
➢ small battery-powered radios and a supply of batteries
➢ medicine and medical supplies- especially pain killers and vitamins
➢ old eye glasses- for both distance and reading
➢ books- for adults and children!
➢ toys
➢ school supplies (workbooks, paper, pens etc.)
➢ flashlights and batteries
➢ running shoes in good shape (for kids and adults)
➢ bicycles in working condition (with spare parts if possible)
Soccer jerseys, shorts and shoes !
But please AVOID:
➢ electrical appliances (since Malawi has a different current)
➢ generic used clothing
➢ damaged or broken items
Please come drop off your items on:
Saturday December 12 from 9-12 pm
Sunday December 20 from 9-4 pm
Please contact Emma Lambert at 514-207-8383 or lambert.emma@gmail.com for details on where to bring your items!
If you think you might have something not listed that would be helpful, please don’t hesitate to ask! Moreover, if you don’t have any items around the house that you can donate, each box costs approximately $30 to send over, therefore monetary donations are very much appreciated as well! Donations can be made on our website (www.theresafoundation.com).
For more information on the container and all of our initiatives, please visit our recently updated (and improved!) website at:www.theresafoundation.com. We have uploaded more pictures, articles and videos regarding the projects underway.
The container will be leaving in January, and we are trying to fill 40!!! boxes- we need your help!
Thank you!
