IN 3 WEEKS THE NEW DAWSON THEATRE COLLECTIVE SHOW OPENS !!
LOOKING FOR VIRGIL SWIFT
Directed by Ann Lambert
From the company that brought you such memorable shows as Uphill Both Ways (2008), Rhinoceros (2009), A Midsummer Night’s Kick-Ass Dream (2010), Not Julius Caesar(2011), Lysistrata 2012 and last year’s smash hit Hamlette: The Melancholy Dame comes a brand-new musical dramedy set very close to home AND featuring a cast of 31 students from across the Dawson community !
Virgil Swift is a gifted and eccentric college professor, beloved by his students who are all on academic probation. When he mysteriously vanishes, Lisbeth Granger and Christian Bunyan, two of his more determined students, embark on a journey to find him and return him to the classroom. Their search for Virgil Swift brings them face-to-face with an assortment of remarkable and recognizable characters (both real and imaginary). Meanwhile, the rest of the class must find a way to survive Gilmore Rand, Virgil’s tyrannical (and from Toronto) substitute teacher. As the clues to Virgil’s disappearance are uncovered, and Lisbeth reveals the real reason she is looking for Virgil Swift, the truth becomes even more tantalizing. But time is rapidly running out. Will they find Virgil before it’s too late ? Will Swift’s students find a way to depose the despot who has replaced him ? Will they pass the course and secure their academic future?
A seriocomic meditation on life, literature and love, Looking for Virgil Swift will engage your mind as much as it will capture your heart.
